My laptop shit the bed so to speak, plus this month I got digital cable. This dual attack on my spare time and the way it has shifted priorities for this month has impacted my music listening severely. Especially that now I have access to VH-1 Classic's Metal Mania show three times a week for a total of three hours of metal videos. Oh yeah, been rocking out majorly and was ecstatic to see an Yngwie video I had NEVER SEEN BEFORE. OMG! "I'll See the Light Tonight" is one of the coolest freakin' videos I have seen ever. There's an animatronic dragon that shoots flame and Yngwie is running around like a Swedish madman swinging his guitar around. There's pits with green smoke stuff coming out of it, it's absolutely TOO cool. Anyway. Here is what I HAVE been listening to...


Great White - Hooked
I've always loved this album, and I don't know why. The chick on the cover being "hooked" has fascinated me, and while it's not their best album, its really solid. "Afterglow (Of Your Love)" is one of my fav GW songs, so bluesy and lovely, soft, subtle, shining with an afterglow. "Desert Moon" is rockin' and awesome. good stuffz.

Great White - Psycho City
Another GW cd that's good but not great, but yet solid enough to keep digging out. "Maybe Someday" is an extensive blues rocker that just lets you wallow in your sorrow. Not just sit and stew in it but roll and wallow in that pitiful state like a pig on holiday in a mudbath. "Love Is A Lie" continues the theme and then there's "Big Goodbye", which rolls and rocks n' all that good stuff. It's cool.

Virgin Steele - Marriage of Heaven and Hell Pt. II
I dug this out because... I miss DeFeis and you know what? I have a new appreciation for "Strawgirl", a song that I never particularly liked but am now head over hells about. Or heels over head, whatever. I find myself singing it when no one is looking and even when people ARE looking. Screw em I say. Screw em if they dont like it.

Journey - Generations
A different approach but still very Journey-esque. Where's Steve Perry though? It sounds like Journey but man the vocals need Steve sometimes I think. Everyone gets a shot at singing here which is kinda weird. Full review to come soon.

Terra Nova - Escape
YAY! Scandi-ish slap happy keyboard laden and jingly in an 80s way. I like it. I maybe love it. The production is a little "eh" but the songs are good.

Robin Beck - Do You Miss Me
Oh Yes I DO! Ok I don't. I have no idea who this chick is or where she comes from, but it doesn't matter, because this is pretty much standard Fabrizio Grossi music with vocalist of the moment laid on top, cept this time around its powered with femme power, and that makes a big difference.
