Quick Review

This show, with each season following Counter Terrorist agent Jack Bauer in real time for 24 hours, is a personal favorite among the Thriller/Action TV Series out there. The first season builds the emotional base for all the following seasons and for me, the surprising ending is a highlight of the series.

From then on the series continued to up the stakes with more action, bigger set pieces and surprising twists, all extremely thrilling. Every episode ends on a cliffhanger of some kind and that is quite a feat. It seems that the purpose of each season has been to make it more extreme than the ones that came before. A special mention goes to the editing, which brings a great intensity to the show, the writing, which is often creative and thought provoking and last but not least, Kiefer Sutherland who IS Jack Bauer and brings the feeling that he was born for this role.

The one major problem with the show is characters, who sometimes become plot devices and don't always act according to their already established ideals, the worst of these being season 8's presidential personality U-turn.
This doesn't stop 24 from being completely brilliant and I've enjoyed the whole thing twice now.
