Son Of Rambow is a very humorous take on "Rambo: First Blood" obsession, home movies, French exchange students and being 11 years old. It is a charming little movie with a certain quality that makes it resemble a fable, perhaps due to its cartoonish violence and a slightly surreal undertone. Mixed in with a coming of age drama about unlikely friendship, religion, neglect and family values, it is a strange little movie, which somehow works because of its easy going way of handling the material.
My patience was tested for the second half of the movie but by the end I was won over.
